Kansas City Crime
On 21 June 2023, criminals used a skimming device to duplicate my credit card. One hour later they spent $300 on the card at Cenex gas station at 4732 State Ave, Kansas City, KS. I filed a report with the police whose office is across the road from said gas station after having visited the Cenex and established they have video of the incident they would share with the police. The police told me "Luckily it is credit card fraud so ultimately a major corporation is out of pocket but these cases are unsolveable." So no attempt to identify the perps even though there is camera footage of them literally right across the street. On the same day, I received an email from the Prairie Village, KS police station that they were closing my case of credit card fraud from one year ago as despite having images of the perp they hadn't found him "despite emailing around." That night I returned to my KCMO apartment and found a $150 dollar package had been stolen from outside my door. I filed a report with the KCPD and was informed it takes them at least 48 hours to respond. All of these things are minor crimes. I don't expect any of them to be the top priority of local police departments.
However, there have already been 116 murders in Kansas City, MO this year and it is only June. As of 2020, Kansas City ranks in the top 10 cities for violent crime in the U.S. even though it is only the 37th largest city. Why is this? Perhaps it has something to do with the people running and policing this area. For example, Kansas City, KS detective Roger Golubski is under investigation by the FBI for alleging raping and sexually assaulting a number of black women. And that is just the start of it. Kansas City has been a crime mecca and a place where racial prejudice was built into the design of the city since at least the 1930s.
